“Building community and inspiring change.”
The Timmins Public Library first opened its doors on July 14, 1924 and in 2024, we will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary.
We are very pleased to present to you our new 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, which will help guide the Library Board and staff over the next five years. As the world advances, the use of the Timmins Public Library continues to soar. The pandemic posed a unique set of challenges for the library, but it also provided an opportunity for growth. Through perseverance, we emerged stronger than ever, introducing innovative programs and services. The hardships we all faced during those years have led to a revival in the use of our collections, especially digital ones, and patrons are excited to be participating in programming once again.
Through consultations with the community, staff and board, this strategic plan effectively addresses the current needs and wants of the community. All new initiatives undertaken will align with our strategic priorities.
The library is always evolving by responding to the social, technological and economic challenges of our community. We are immensely grateful to have two beautiful spaces where members can, at no charge, sit and enjoy a good book, learn something new, explore, study, attend programs, use technology, meet people and so much more. Few places in the city can match the unique ambiance of a public library. We aim to create a space that becomes your own personal oasis.
We appreciate the input you provided to help us create this plan. Your support and commitment to the library have helped us understand what the community envisions for their public library. We’re excited to bring this vision to life, building community and inspiring change together.
